Many landlords prefer to manage their own property.  However, some landlords do not realize the opportunity cost of their time and how hiring a property manager can free up resources that will help them increase their net profit and improve the quality of life of the landlord. 

Things to ask when deciding if you should hire a property manager:

  • What is my time worth?
  • What is the best way to maintain my property so that I get the top of the market rents?
  • How much time do I spend in administrative work such as paying insurance, taxes, handling delinquencies and repairs?
  • How much time do I spend in dealing with unnecessary issues?
  • Do I really need that so-called 9:00 p.m. emergency call for something that can wait?
  • Do I have the right network of vendors who can respond quicker and better to any situation?
  • Do I really need to be collecting rent and paying bills?
  • What if I could just look at my account every month and balance it against the property management records as I balance my checkbook?
  • How do I maximize the operation of my property so that I can fulfill my goals?
